FAMILY BONDING IDEAS WITH COUSINS IN NOVALICHES

by: Charles Bolanos

Here are some tips on
how to plan for your summer break
in the Philippines.

We are always excited when we look forward to
meeting our family from another country or from
another province.

Here are pronto ideas:

1. If you are gathering from different places
in the Philippines. Stay in a furnished apartment.
Most furnished apartments have dining halls which
you can use privately.

Organize with your cousins!
Have a root beer party, smorse and some hotdogs.
If you are the typical health buff... try
cold calamansi juice, grilled sea foods instead.

2. Organize an excursion in North Luzon, where
you can do island or beach hopping and the meet up
in  furnished apartment in Novaliches.

3. Organize a lunch party with your family. Lunch usually
can ran as much as 1 1/2, so take advantage of honing your
talents! Spot who among your cousins is a natural Emcee... and
ask right there and there who wants to perform. Best to assign
at least the best of three first, ahead of time.

Potlock is the best here or if you want a filling lunch...
hire a caterer.

4. Dinner bonding in a cozy restaurant.
You may opt for "Kuwentuhan Galore" or program of dancing and singing.
You may also introduce your cousins to uncles and aunties who
never met them before.

5. Outings. This is usually planned months ahead of time. The relative
coming in from another country must coordinate with his or her
sister in the Philippines. This will allow families to block their
schedule ahead of time. Pilgrimage to our Lady's shrine.

6. Attend Holy Mass together and pray the Holy Rosary, go for a pilgrimage.
There is a saying that when a family prays together stays together.

7. If you will be staying for a month or two or three... you might as well
join a club, a choir or a fun run ... to meet new friends. Best to be with
your cousins and relatives who will introduce you to known friends too...
Go around the islands... except in Basilan, Zamboanga, Jolo and Sulu.
