Preparing for All Saints Day and All Souls Day

by: Melanie Queenie Bolanos

Its and the upcoming feast of the Saints is about to be
celebrated on the 1st of November.

In the Philippines, preparation starts on the 28th of October
when most people starts going to the provinces.

28th of October is when families starts preparing for
their reunions, and block of the 31st October as "the day" of
seeing each other. It is usually overnight at the cemetery,
where you meet lots of people praying for the departed
loved ones. Though honestly.... its not yet the date,
as the feast of the Saints are still upcoming.

Dedicated wives start preparing food on the 28th, while the
others prefer to just order food from a resto or a bakery, especially
if the "mom" is an office mom.

2 November is the day when we start praying for the
repose of the souls of our relatives.  I think this is great for
domestic tourism when 2 November is still holiday so we have
time to work our way through the cemetery for those who can't take
a leave till 31st of October 2015 midnight. Accounting books had to
be closed for the month end, and most accountants can only give
a happy sigh once the double line had been finally written.

Foresee heavy traffic to the provinces. If you have a personal
jet, best to use it. Otherwise, start filing a leave as early as the 25th and
start buying a bus ticket to pass through heavy traffic to the provinces.

I prefer to stay in the city, and offer Holy Mass the whole
month of November.

Upcoming... All Saints Day Menu for the family by me.
