How to Handwash Clothes Easily in the Philippines
by: Charles Bolanos
Happy Mother's Day!
I thought of a gift for my mom?
Typically she always washes our clothes
when the lavandera is not around.
Its great to have somebody to help out in
washing clothes, but most children in the
Philippines are already taught how to wash clothes!
Even if you are a boy or a girl.
The reason for this is when you travel
here and abroad, it will be really difficult
if you are caught in a foreign place and
cannot find a laundry service.
Here are some sure fire tips to make life
easier when washing clothes. I learn this when
joining the Boy Scouts and yes... observing my
Mom and sometimes my Dad when
there is a need!
This is good for at least 25 pieces
of clothes without washing machine.
Tools Needed: 3 Basins medium size,
Detergent 3 packs or 5 T, Baking
Soda 7 T, Softener 9 T.
1. Separate clothes from white and
colored ones.
2. Check for stains. I use "Perla" soap to
get rid of oil stains.
For Rust Stains there is a special
chemical. But if you are on the
go... a typical fragrance bath soap
can do to rob off stains. I think
Perla brand is the best so far.
2. Soak all linens or clothes without
stains in a 3 L of water
with baking soda. Leave it for 30
minutes. This is to get rid of
body smell or polluted smell
attached to the clothes.
3. Squeeze the clothes. Make
another 3 L of water with
5 T of detergent. Leave the
clothes for another 30 minutes.
4. Use a plastic squeezer
(I will take a photo of this) to
rub off smell and stains. Squeeze.
5. Soapy water to clean your
garage to save on water, mops
or rubber tires.
6. Soak clothes in 3.5 L of
water with softener for 15 minutes.
Squeeze.
7. Rinse 2x or thrice in 3.5 L
of water. Then hang.
At the www.furnishedapartmentnovaliches.com
there are lots of hanging area, and washing machine too.
It really depends how you want your
clothes laundered. I usually
start soaking the night before to cut on time.
Here is a funny video which I came
across with, it took them too long.
But good try mga Kuya! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFXOhQTTx6U
