If you are planning on a Philippines vacation this August to September, look at the following events for possible ways to have more fun in the Philippines! Even if it is only a temporary stay in the Philippines, you should still make the most out of your vacation in the Philippines.

CINEMALAYA

The Philippines’ annual indie movie festival is still going strong on its tenth year! The movies shown in Trinoma, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, Fairview Terraces, and CCP range from a fictionalized account of the Japanese occupation to the woes of the Y generation. Some films include a look at real life crimes while others stay within the realm of fantasy. The variety of films presented are sure to satisfy many audiences, and impress upon them the talent of the Filipino.
Runs from August 1 to 10. Ticket price: P150.

RAK OF AEGIS

Celebrate classic Filipino music through the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s production, Rak of Aegis! Amid a flooded subdivision, two people fall in love, leading to hilarity and great musical moments set to Aegis. The lessons they learn on how to deal with their hearts or with the storm will stay with you after the curtains close.
Runs from June 20 to August 31. Tickets range from P800 to P1500.

TOKYO EDM INVASION

Dance your heart out in the SMX Convention Center as two cultures fuse together to form one unforgettable non-stop night of partying. The event originates from Womb, Tokyo’s hottest nightclub. The Japanese DJs include Dantz, Ayumi, Tsubee, and Daijiro. Representing the Philippines are DJ Ace Ramos, Deuce Manila, and Curse & Bless. A Japanese feast and geishas will complete your experience.
One night show on August 2. Tickets range from P950 to P5300.



FRAGRANCE 101: FRAGRANCE BASICS

Stop and smell the roses….inside a perfume bottle. This workshop held by BC Fragrance coaches you on recognizing different scents in perfume, how to reproduce those scents, and how perfumes can be sold in todays market. In addition to these skills, you also get two manuals, a snack, and unlimited drinks. For once, don’t breathe in the smoke of the city.
Runs monthly until Nov. August 30 and September 27 are the dates for those months. Workshop fee is P499, and a basic perfume making kit will cost an additional P700.
With these events, even a short term stay in the Philippines can make long term memories.
