Clothes to Bring this September, October and November in the Philippines

by: Charles Bolanos

The weather in the Philippines this September till November is "tropical".

There is sunshine in the morning and rain in the afternoon.
The coolness is like the typical
Spring in other countries, but a little warmer.

Best clothes to bring are pure cotton shirts, pants and skirts.
If you need something formal - the clothes we usually wear
is natural mixed with synthetic fiber.

The best clothes I wore was a cotton shirt that was woven in
India. When you wear the cotton clothes from India, the cool
air breathes through the clothes and is very refreshing.

However, the Indian designs are quite exotic, so I decided to
buy more clothes in the Philippines to blend. Clothes from Indonesia
and Malaysia are also okay because they are made from pure cotton.

Do not bring clothes that are woven in wool. Clothes woven in
wool are elegant, but you can't wear woolen clothes in the streets of
my country. Unless you plan to ride an air conditioned car while
you tour the islands.

A rain coat or wind breaker always comes in handy, because there are times
that rain starts to fall when you least expect it. Make sure you have a foldable
umbrella too. Everybody in the Philippines brings an umbrella starting June till November.

FOOT WEAR

Rubber shoes is great for walking around. Islander Flip Flops is typically the
favorite of anybody because of its comfort while walking.

Always bring two pairs of leather shoes. When you are a foreigner and new in
the Philippines, your friends will sure to invite you to one formal dinner, so better
be prepared.

SWIMMING

Always bring a one piece swim suit. The beach are still nice this months because there are less people.

Keep watch and be careful of jellyfish. A one piece swim suit will protect you from their invisible bites.  Have medicines and vinegar ready, and be sure you spot the nearest hospital in case one jelly fish happens to decide to stay ashore with you (better ask the coast guard all the time.)

FORMAL ATTIRE

The Barong Tagalog is the favorite formal attire in the Philippines. If you like to stand out, choose your own color and design in a Barong Tagalog Shop.

SUNDAY CLOTHES

Even if you are not a devout Catholic, it is best to bring one Sunday elegant clothes.
