Exciting Things to Do this August
by Charles Bolanos |
August 2014 is a wonderful month for me because its the month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. My birthday falls on 8 December, so I always have reasons to celebrate.
1. August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption. This is typically celebrated in my family with prayers...and yes, my mom cooks special.
2. For Moms, August is sale month. Sometimes August is known to be a slow down business, but not for moms, its the best time to buy your upcoming Christmas Holiday gifts.
3. August is also the cool month in the Philippines, sunny and rainy at the same time. August is the best time to visit rivers and falls, because there are lots of water. The rivers and falls are almost dried up during summer time. So here are some nice places to visit:
a. Pagsanjan Falls, experience the river trek, and enter the falls...you will feel how it is to be inside the falls. You may eat at the stop overs and reminisce the beauty of the hills. From the furnished apartment in Novaliches Quezon City, you will take Katipunan route till your each South Luzon SCLEX. This will take you a 3 hours van ride.
b. Visit Pandin Lake and see for yourself the twin lakes in Laguna. At the side of the lake is an authentic mineral water, you can taste it...its sweet! You can also eat by the lake and order fresh shrimps and vegetables.
If you plan to go North here are some nice places to see:
c. Visit Bolinao Pangasinan and experience eating inside a rack in the middle of the sea. The white sands of Pangasinan.
d. Visit the caves of Bolinao and Light House
e. Visit the underground mountains of Baguio City
f. Experience the cool springs of Baguio City
g. Join the PMA in Baguio as they do their show case marching exercises...
h. how about island hopping in Alaminos Pangasinan to its 100 islands and taste the fresh fish.
i. Do not forget to drop by Tambumbong as well.
f. If you prefer a peaceful weekend by the beach, try out Binmaley. Experience the waves as you go up up and shout your hearts out.
Check http://www.accuweather.com always if you plan to visit these places. My experience is to visit this places at least two weeks before a typhoon or one week before the typhoon. If you will be visiting the place one week before the typhoon do not go far away from the shore, and be home at the furnished apartment in Novaliches 2 days before the typhoon.
For my relatives and friends visiting the Philippines in August... this is one of the best months of the year in my country.
