TOP 10 CHECKLIST IN YOUR LUGGAGE FOR A MANILA TOUR IN THE PHILIPPINES

by: F. C. Irorita

1. City map - Whether you're going alone or with a tour guide, it is best if you have a copy of the local city map just in case you get lost. Be sure you have the latest one because many new shops may open or old stores close down monthly. This will also help you in exploring the city on your own, and still get back to your hotel on time for dinner.

2. Water, lots of water - Summer time in the Philippines is one of the hottest times in the country, so always bring water with you to avoid dehydration.

3. Pocket umbrella - Even during the summer time, it might suddenly rain without warning in Manila, so be sure to always have an umbrella with you.

4. Toiletries - Although hotels usually have these provided in your room already, it will still be wise to have these with you on your trip to Manila. Sadly, not all public restrooms have the toiletries you would need, so it would be safe to bring your own in case of an emergency.

5. Music player - The busy streets of Manila can be really noisy, especially at noon to sunset. You might want to bring a music player and a headset with you to keep the noise out.

6. Cap - This is to keep the hot sun from warming your scalp and to keep the sunlight off your eyes.

7. Extra pocket money - It would also be wise to bring extra pocket money in case you lose your wallet or you run out of money to buy souvenirs with. There are lots of things you could buy in Manila, and it would be a shame if you didn't have money for these. The extra money could also be used for transportation if you become tired of walking or if you want to get to someplace in a hurry.

8. Sunscreen - Walking around Manila in the morning will be hot because of the sun, and aside from your heavy sweating, you should also worry about the damage it makes to your skin. Remember to apply sunscreen before leaving your hotel to protect your skin from damage and prevent skin cancer.

9. Smartphone - Since the advent of Smartphones, many travel applications have since become available in the mobile market. You could use these to navigate the busy streets of Manila or use its camera feature to capture memorable moments you would want to keep. Be sure to keep it secure with you at all times and be careful not to lose it, though.

10. Camera - There are lots of things to see in Manila, and you could show off how much summer is fun in the Philippines to your friends with a camera
