Travel Tips for May in the Philippines

by: F.C. Irorita

The summer time is the best time to visit the small islands in the Philippines. This is because it is harder to travel and to navigate when you go there during the rainy season, so the hot and dry weather of the summer will give you trips with minimal delays, not to mention the good view when the sky is clear and the sun shining on everything nicely.

So this coming May, it would be a good idea to visit the following places.
Hundred Islands National park – The Hundred Islands National Park is best visited this season when there is not much rain and the sun is always up to illuminate the sea. With the sun shining down upon the sea, you would be able to see the diverse marine fauna here.

Plus, since it’s summer, there’s no hassle about delayed or cancelled trips due to rain. Boat all you like, there won’t be any limit!

Chocolate Hills – It is almost impossible to enjoy the 1260 Chocolate Hills when it is raining because it only shows its chocolatey color when it is being illuminated by the son. Plus, it’s hard to travel when it is raining because of the mud and soft soil of the hills. That’s why the summer is the perfect time to see the Chocolate Hills in Bohol.

Puerto Princesa Underground River –  Same as in the Hundred Islands National Park, it is more likely for your trips to get cancelled if you go there during the rainy season. Therefore, it is best to explore the caves of Puerto Princesa and be awe-struck by its beauty during the summer season.

Here are some travel tips if you’re planning to spend your vacation in the Philippines.
Travel and pack light, since you will most likely be walking a lot going to the destinations above. Pack lots of water because the strong sun might dehydrate you, and it would be hard to continue walking when you feel thirsty. Wear loose, cool but tough clothes to protect you from the environment and from the searing hot sun.

Finally, it is advisable that you find yourself a temporary housing in the Philippines around Metro Manila as some sorts of headquarters for you, since there are a lot of places that you could be visiting in the Philippines and Metro Manila is right at the center. This headquarters will be where you will leave most of your stuff that you won’t need for your next trip.

Meanwhile in the province, do not hesitate to get short term rents of furnished apartments to stay at during your time in that province.

In this way you will be able to visit a lot places during your long vacation in the Philippines without having to take too much things with you during your short trips to the provinces.

That’s all. Have fun in your stay!
