Preparing for Lent

by: Mrs. Aileen Soriano Lent is here. When lent comes around, its a reminder for us of the great gift God has given us...His Life. This weeks will be a moment of prayer. Busy with work, but work turned into prayer is very valuable. I will share some recipes which my sister and I concocted especially for Lent. We will taste it first to make sure that even if we take light meals these days, you don't scrimp on nutrition. Hope you will have a great time in Lent, praying and at the same time bonding with family. Should you decide to visit the Philippines this upcoming Lent Season, take advantage of the different cultural prayer places where the Spanish Conquistadores had built.

Summer is Here! What to Wear in the Philippines this March

by: Charlene Bolanos Summer Wear: Casual Wear Basically cotton. Colorful t-shirts, skirts (not mini) because of the insects, a little bit below the the knee (apply lots of insect repellent). Cotton pants like jeans is okay. Go for half sleeves...choose the feminine cut for girls and ladies. Summer Formal Wear If you are invited in a wedding, choose an elegant cotton.... Indian Cotton and designs are elegant for weddings, even if its a Catholic Wedding. You may also go for Chinese silk. There are also nice Philippines Cotton, the terno for ladies. Shoes will be typical: close and heeled if you can carry. Summer Semi-Casual Go for pencil colorful pencil cuts with appropriate stockings if you are working in an office. Go for a below the knee pencil cut. Wearing a super mini and your pockets showing that looks as if its really old is not impressive - even if you want to call attention - it reflects your personality. Typically if its a formal 18th Birthday, there is a required formal attire. Formal 18th birthdays are usually attended using gowns. Avoid revealing gowns which can make people uncomfortable, and off the hook. Wearing appropriate elegant gowns appropriately gives honor to the occasssion. Semi-Formal Some 18th birthdays require a semi-formal attire, typically office elegant attire. Make sure your attire is comfortable for dancing. 2. Dates, Formal Engagements and Wedding Dates If you are having a date with  your husband or future husband this Valentine's Day, wear the attire that will make you sweet heart proud of you.
